If you follow along on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m CONSTANTLY listening to podcasts. They are literally one of my most favorite inventions of the digital world because as someone who LOVES to read and learn, but doesn’t always have the time for it (hello #momlife), podcasts have allowed me to continue my desire to learn and grow WHILE still managing my day to day responsibilities.

Plus, they are entirely FREE! Did you know that? Podcasts are FREE99!
I’m a big believer in personal growth, and am always learning and growing and think it is one of the most vital things that we can do as moms, but also just as humans in the world. No matter our age, or stage of life, we should never be content with stagnancy in our learning. And as far as learning goes, podcasts are literally one of the easiest mediums to consume.
This might be elementary for some, but what seems obvious to you might be magic for others. So here is a quick guide to when & how to listen to podcasts.
Easy Ways to Listen to Podcasts
Did you know that the Apple podcast app already exists on your phone? Many people don’t know this! You have something already on your phone that is FREE to access.
Once you’ve opened your app, you simply can type in any key word you want and a bajillion podcasts will come up.
Here is the list of some of my faves.
On the Enneagram: The Road Back To You
To Make You Laugh: The Relevant Podcast
Parenting Help: Risen Motherhood
Day to Day Hacks: The Lazy Genius
Personal Growth: FunTherapy
When do you listen?
The easiest solution for any Corporate Mom is to listen in the car and during your commute. I understand the need for this time to often be a “decompress” time, so I’d recommend carving out at least one day a week that is devoted to learning.
For me, since my work keeps me at home, I pop on my wireless headphones pretty much ANY and every time I do chores. There is something that keeps me moving when I’m doing mindless activities and listening. It’s like when your girlfriend calls and after talking to her for an hour, you found that you were able to clean up your house and put those clothes away that have been sitting in piles for a month. That’s how podcasts and chores work for me. If I’m vacuuming, folding laundry, doing dishes, or just general picking up, you can almost ALWAYS find me listening to podcast on my wireless headphones.
How Do You Know What To Listen To?
There’s a “Search” feature in the Podcast app, as with anything else, and you can search by topic or top charts.
But if you want personal recommendations, ask your friends! I have lots of mom friends who always are looking for new things to listen to or read, and they just want someone else to take the guess work out of what’s good and helpful and what isn’t. If that sounds like you, I’ve gone ahead and created a list to help you do just that!
This list is the cliff notes of all the podcasts out there right now that I have found helpful in my day to day life – motherhood, marriage, and personal growth! Some are explicit, some are short and some are longer – either way, you can trust that all have been helpful in some capacity!
