What if every time you made a purchase, your dollars could also make a difference in the lives of others?
When I started this little blog of mine a year ago, Design Style Purpose morphed out of my desire to document our ongoing remodel in taking our 70s chic fixer upper to a beautiful modern suburban farmhouse. I knew when I started Design Style Purpose, that regardless of what type of design, what type of style, that I wanted it all to have PURPOSE. I didn’t want to be that category of online “influencer” just hucking product at you all day long, convincing you, or more accurately, selling you on a product that you NEEDED to have in order to keep doing your life. No, we are not all made of money and I knew deep down that no matter how much I loved interior design and fashion, they would never bring purpose or meaning to my life, or yours, in and of themselves.
Shopping Statistics – Newsflash: We as Women SHOP A LOT!
The reality though is that I naturally do LOVE fashion and I LOVE design, and thus I love to shop. If you’re anything like me, (which statistics show that you are), you do too!
I recently read that women currently only wear 20% of their wardrobe that they own. I also came to find out that women purchase approximately 65 items on average per year, which averages out to roughly 5 items a month. And accessibility to fashion, and style, is changing. My hunch tells me that New York Fashion Week and the elite brands will always exist in Milan and Tokyo and LA, which are fun. But our style, in our everyday #momlife, is anything but runway ready.
So I wanted to bring you two things:
- Accessible everyday tees that were legit cute, made you laugh, and feel empowered every time you wore it.
- To create a legacy of impact with each sale. I’ve talked about finding purpose as a mom SO much on here, as it’s the one thing that I felt I lacked since entering motherhood. And the more that I’ve searched, the more my answer kept coming back to empowerment, breaking down lies I believed about myself, and giving to others. I came to realize that the story wasn’t about me, but rather it was about my part in the greater love story of humankind. Generosity and using talents, resources, and time toward others was what was going to bring me purpose.
Enter DSP Tees – Design Style Purpose Tees
I am so excited to introduce you to my latest endeavor – DSP Tees! I’ve successfully put together a product not that you need, but that will help you fill a need – clothing and giving back to others. At the end of the day, we’re going to be buying new clothes, so why not make our purchases count?! And not only are you supporting yours truly as I work to bring you more content to enrich and encourage our #momlife, but we get to be a part of a greater story. Together. Because I whole-heartedly believe that we are better together.
So in true Ashley fashion, these shirts are simple, snarky, and full of subtle wit that only a mom in the trenches would understand.
And this new business is being set up from the beginning to have 15% of ALL profits given to the support of empowering and serving other non-profits who are helping moms, and women, better their lives. The first organization we’re donating to is Humble Design Seattle. I’d encourage you to check them out – they are doing amazing things across the country, as well as locally for families needing a second chance.
Snarky, Subtle, T-Shirts
Take a look at our designs. I’ve made it simple and am exclusively offering these (for now) on Amazon. Because duh, I Know that you’re a mom and the only shopping we are doing is from the comfort of last night’s sweats.
Share it with your friends, buy if you love it, and best of all, feel encouraged that we’re making a difference in the lives of others. And if you join my email list, I will be sending out updates from time to time on our donations and how they are being used.
Follow along on Instagram for more fun pics and info and thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting the visions of my heart!
We all wants our lives to count and matter, and this is one small way we can ensure that’s the legacy that we are a part of.
NOTE: If you order a women’s size, make sure you size up – they tend to run a little snug! I personally like the Men’s Small fit or a Women’s Large.
